Teaching Philosophy
As a 4th generation educator, Yophi has always been exposed to the field of Education. Being from a very poor rural area, she was starved of arts education for nearly 10 years of her k-12 career. She has decided to make it one of her goals to advocate for arts education in underfunded school systems, along with maintaining her teaching theme of inclusive learning. She prides herself on creating lifelong learners as a chorus teacher, music director, college voice professor, and private voice instructor.
Arts education advocacy is a strong passion of hers. As a collegiate board member of NCMEA, she spent several summers on capitol hill advocating for music education. She is a recipient of the James H. Allen Student Leadership Award from UNCG for her leadership efforts in the Arts, and the 2020 Thomas J. Stone award for excellence in performance and music education.
